No 2 Roebuck

Poor Morris needs a beauty treatment, but other than that he is in good, sturdy shape. Once his head has been repaired (easily done) and he has paint in the correct style he will be a real delight.

He has the beautifully shaped fetlocks and feet of early Roebucks.

Hoof rails and stand ironwork remain, this is the only of our No 2s with any original stand surviving, the others were transplanted onto bows long ago.

We actually thought we'd bought a No 3 Roebuck dating to around 1915, and he has been "stabled" with a friend for some time. To our delight, once we actually saw Morris we discovered he was rather more unusual and special than we thought!
