Lines bow

46"

Circa 1900

Scheduled for restoration November 2012

This is another beautiful bow rocker made by the Lines company circa 1900.

Venus has a head very much like that typical of Arabian horses from the Morafic line, my favourite in my days of keeping real horses. She looks very much Bayaan, the first horse I ever bred and who is no longer with us after a tragic accident in a storm many years ago. For this reason Venus will be kept for the Rocking Horse Studio's own collection.

This beautiful horse stands 46" tall, with bows that span a massive 2 metres. Before coming here she belonged to the same family for the past 90 years. Ten years ago Venus was given a nice enough renovation but when her turn comes she will be restored to her original appearance. Sadly, there is no original paint left.

Venus is referred to as "she" but over time this horse is more stallion-like all the time - we just haven't thought of a more suitable name yet.
